1 Nation Restaurant Sdn Bhd

Face it, who doesn't like to indulge with desserts especially after dinner. Desserts are so wonderful where it suits every single age group. And so, we went to this place to try out their ABC.

ABC is Ais Batu Campur or sometimes known as Ais Kacang Which literally means mixed ice. Mixed ice is a simple desserts where the main ingredients are shaved ice, milk (condensed milk), palm sugar(gula melaka), or sometimes syrup. Traditionally, just like the name it is just shaved ice and beans but now,the condiments ranged from various jellies to ice creams, syrups and fruits. Basically it is something that can be mixed with almost anything.

Our destination to try out their ABC

Shaved ice with Fruits
As you can see, there are various types of item in here.
Red bean, corn, longan, papaya, honey dew and water melon
served with condensed milk and strawberry syrup on top while underneath the whole pile of stuff is the palm sugar.
Sweet? It varies as the among of ice is so much, sometimes it is hardly too sweet for anyone. As I said, it depends though.

ABC with Ice cream
Note the huge bowl. It is really so deep and big and to be honest, I did not finish this. It's too much to handle after a great dinner.

As you can see, you can't actually see any fruits. I did not order any fruits in here, hence this is just ABC with jellies and ice cream. Various jellies are found here together with sweet corn and red bean.

Again, I'm sure the size of the ice cream do catch your attention. Yes, instead of 1 scoop which usually most place cater, they serve 2 scoop of ice cream. This is strawberry flavour. However, I don't fancy this ice cream. It's very rough, I can taste the powder in it, very powdery not smooth at all. I hope they can improve over time.

The verdict? Yes, the portion is very big and I bet 1 bowl can be share with 2-3 persons. It's bigger than Restaurant Yum Yum2. Taste wise, I still prefer the latter. It is not to say that this place is bad, it's just that I don't like the ice cream here.

This place don't just serve ABC, they have a lot of choices to choose from, I mean food. 1 Nation Restaurant is located at Prima Jaya, just enter the junction towards Taman Tinosan. It is just located north east (2 o'clock) of Restaurant Yum Yum 2.

I'll rate it 4 over 5.

Restaurant Yum Yum 2

Went to this place before, but just that I kinda like this place. The food is fine and the price is too. This place is forever flooded with people. I sort of blogged about this place before. You can read about it here.

Yin Yong
Yin Yong is a popular beverage from Hong Kong. It's actually a mixture of coffee and Hong Kong style milk tea. Unfortunately, I have to say this is the worst Yin Yong I've ever tried. No offence, but yeah, it's my opinion. The tea is too thin, milk is too thick. Coffee..where?

Fish Glue Soup
It's the name from the menu. But dear readers, it is actually fish maw. Fish maw or usually known as yue piu in cantonese. Hence this is the famous yue piu kang (Fish maw thick soup)
This restaurant's fish maw soup is nice. I'd say 8 out of 10. Not bad. I kinda like it.

Fish maw is it's actually the air bladder of the fish to keep it's buoyancy. It's from the fish stomach. As you can see, they put generous amount of fish maw and crab meat of course. It's sweet and just right. I compliment their stock on doing this. Worth trying.

Sweet Corn with Crab Meat Soup
I have to say it is not as nice as their fish glue soup. I think Hawaii served sweet corn soup better. The amount of crab meat is there, it's just the sweet corn, does not made the soup sweet as it should be. It tasted kinda artificial.

Green Apple Chicken Rice
If i ever remember the name correctly, that's what it should be. Green apple sauce! hah! Okay, it's the first time I saw it. Taste? Sort of like Thai-style chicken with green colourings. It taste wonderful nonetheless. Worth trying.

Garlic and Shallots Chicken Rice
Again, if my memory serves me right. The garlic and shallots are fragrant. I like it, but I'd prefer it's not that thick. Too thick for my liking. Garlic are fried to crisp.Shallots are saute till it fragrant. Shallots and garlics are best friend in the vegetable world I think.

Yang Chau Styled Fried Rice
I blogged about this earlier, but yeah, I used to enjoy this dish a lot but it's kinda a let down during this time around. It's tasteless. Yes, it's just like fried rice with egg without any seasoning, so to speak. The previous time I visited, this is very appetizing. Oh well, I think it depends on luck? Still, the prawns are still big and fresh and yes the rice is coated with the wok's 'smell'

Conclusion, again, I'd like to come back to this place again. I ordered a Herbal Chicken, but I've blogged about it and it's still the same. Rich in chinese herbs. Very appetizing. I recommend you to try. The chicken is still juicy and full of flavour. Not to mention their Avocado Juice. It's thick and sinful. It's fattening alright.

In my opinion, it's 4.5 out of 5 for this place.

Yum Yum 2 a.k.a Tsim Sha Tsui

New restaurant at the new town, Prima Jaya located just opposite to Indah Jaya, in front of Taman Tinosan, next to Yu Yuan Secondary School. Need more instructions? To be precise, this restaurant is located just at the 'main road' to enter Prima Jaya. Just turning into Jalan Tinosan, and turn right into the shop lots. You can see Yum Yum a.k.a Tsim Sha Tsui on your right.

They serve mainly chinese food, but you can find simple steaks to burgers here. Not anything elaborated. Their price are decent, in my opinion, the food here worth the price.

Avocado Juice
Thick and rich.nuff' said
The only complains I have is that, it's not chilled enough!

Apple Juice

Yong Zhau-styled Fried Rice
Notice the big prawns? I love this fried rice, it is flavoursome as the wok used is hot enough, hence producing enough 'wok hei' - hot enough

Herbal Chicken
A very appetizing chinese herbs marinated chicken. Indeed very delicious, yet a simple dish, just nice to have it with a bowl of white rice or just to have it as a soup.

Chinese-styled Chicken Chop Rice
Savoury fried chicken with rice. I'm not in the mood for fried items at the moment. Thus, I can't say that I enjoy this very much. However, I do love the amount of onions on this dish =p

(Forgot name)
Normal, decent dish.

One of the big prawns in the fried rice earlier. It's fresh and juicy!

ABC with Ice-cream
Life saver during the weather like this!

Everyone, almost every table there orders ABC (Ais Batu Campur) a.k.a shaved ice at the shop and so I ordered one of the 6 shaved ice item on the menu. This Ice-cream ABC is only RM4.50 and the amount can be shared with 2 other people! It's cheap and taste great! Seriously, I personally enjoy this.

Unfortunately, the restaurant close at 9.30pm, hence can't be going there for supper tho.

Novelty Cream Tarts

Just a short post =p

Various topping of cream tarts (?)

Tea time? Or just itching for something that is bite-sized and taste nice (?) Gotta try these cute bite-size cream tarts (?) from Novelty. Not sure if all branches have it or not. I kinda got these from the Mile 4 branch. For those who do not know where does this branch located, it is just at the other side of Tai Chung Supermarket. The mile 4 market is just in front of it, just across the road.

Basically I've forgotten the name of the pastry here, just assume it's called as cream tart @@ (to be updated with the correct name) Not everybody like cream, but this is kinda different from the normal creams you've tried out there. It's not buttercream for sure. Give it a try =P

Veda Blu

A relatively new cafe in Sandakan located in Mile7 Bandar Utama/Giant area
Easy to find parking because that area is still new and empty

Veda Blu (I assume it's an Italian branch) serves ice cream made with Italian recipe but before you jump in excitement the ice cream is not actually made and delivered from Italy, it is made in KK, Sabah

I was surprised to see it EMPTY that day i went there, maybe because it was a weekday

But empty is good, i can have the whole 1st floor all to myself

I like the design, the colours are soft to my eyes and i can also enjoy the view outside (if you enjoy seeing jalan raya and giant hypermarket)

Mango yoghurt smoothies - very mango, yoghurt?...not really

Ice cream cake (I forgot the name TT) - pretty normal

Ps - If you order ice cream or ice cream cake i suggest that you don't sit near the window, it melts even before you get to finish it

I didn't have enough $$ or space for ice cream so I'll try and re-edit my post next time!
So for now, I have no comment on it because the main dessert there is the ice cream and I haven't tried it once but for now my only comment is that the cake is expensive and the ice cream is expensive TT, whether it is worth the $$ or not I will decide on it later

Chocolate Rain

Located in Indah Mile 4...at the newer area..i guess i dont need to explain in detail where it is since it is quite popular..

If you are looking for something to eat you can have this gigantic bread topped with ice cream

Not too bad, kinda cute..the serving choppingboard-plate

The atmosphere there is okay-typical student or adult hang out place

This is...Champange Grape - Champhange grape juice ice blended with layers of milk pudding

(It's one huge cup)

Crazy Mango - Ice blended mango juice layered with green apple puree

Passion Spring - Ice blended with strawberry pudding layers

*All the drinks above are approximately rm7

But their specialty would be the chocolate fondue
(a selection of fruits dipped in hot melted chocolate sauce)
Whoops i didnt manage to eat that!

The food there are quite attractive because of the colours and the fancy utensils but quite some people say that the fruit taste is a lacking..in other words their drinks only 'says' sweet..

It's not too bad to come here once in a while tho :p
Not alot of cafes serve these kind of drinks in Sandakan

English Tea House & Restaurant

Looking at this creature, locals sure know where is this place.

Mr Peacock is like an icon to this place.
Kinda.

English Tea House & Restaurant
located at Jalan Istana, right on top of a ..hill?

The walkway.
You get to play the i-dunno-what-its-called-game at the side.

Orange Rampage
A mocktail which taste kinda weird for me.
I just don't like the taste where orange juice mix with sprite?
It tasted abit bitter and sour and sweet?

Apple Tea
It smells VERY nice! It's so fragrant that it can unblock a blocked nose better than wasabi.
I think the taste is just as nice as the smell.

Soft Center Chocolate Cake
The cream is nice
I'm a cream-lover =p

I think most choco-lover would love this.
It's not that sweet,somehow just-right for me.
However, the more you have it, you'll feel weird.
It looks like a paste tho.

Black Glutinous Rice Cream Brulee
I forgot the complete name for this thing, but it's something like that.
Topped with papaya.

Taste like curry! I know it's weird to say like that.
But it taste like curry to me. I think it's because of the glutinous rice at the bottom.
I think it's nice tho. But like the choco thing, the more you have it, you'll feel weird.

From above, you get to see the Sandakan Town.

Moving down from the cafe/restaurant, there's a place to view the town.
It's advisable not to go to the place at night.
