Cool City

Cool City (previously Cool) in Bandar Kim Fung Mile4 front row..impossible to not spot it
I'm not going to post pictures of the drinks (Pearl Tea etc etc), assuming that everyone already knew about it..but anyways..i personally prefer QQIce's pearl tea hehehe

I like the Polo Bun there but unfortunately I don't have a picture of it atm..

Tau Sar Peng (Dorayaki)

I've eaten the real dorayaki from Japan before, and I can say that this is as close as 75% - taste wise, maybe not the bun texture but I'm fine with it hehh

Novelty

Easily spotted Novelty in Mile 4 Bandar Kim Fung..

Not only it serves a vaaaaariety of bread, cakes and pastries it also has a 'mini' air conditioned restaurant inside it with wi-fi perfect for people who cannot stand the incredibly hot hot HOT, weather in Sandakan..

Anyways.. I actually posted about Novelty last year but i wasn't satisfied with my hp taken pictures so I am back to edit-

Mayo Chicken Rice (sadly this is my old hp taken picture)

But old pictures are sometimes treasures eventhough they are not really nicely taken..
It lets you see the changes that happened over the year:

Cheese Baked Rice
Last Year: Mangkuk Kayu

This Year: Mangkuk Kaca

I am not a HUGE fan of it because it has corn..Not their fault, mine..
I don't like corn in my rice ;_;

Chicken Chop Rice (Corn in rice..again ;_;)

But actually it is a rather small bowl - not a typical cheap Sandakan food but despite being small it will surely make you 70% full(healthy) and not fatandbloated-full(not healthy)

orange's addition
novelty is one of the bakeries that comes out with the most choices of pastry. you can find almost any flavoured mooncakes here especially near mooncake festival. other than that, their bread and cakes are quite popular too among sandakanians~ this is a halal restaurant. and serve dim sum througout of the day. this is also quite a popular place for students & working people to eat their lunch.
tips of the day. if things didn't change, daily freshbread is arrives from their factory in the evening at about 4. get your breads by then =).

Siang Siang Restaurant

Located next to Yu Yuan Secondary School (Mile 4)
Famous for? .....Their bread (?)

Lemon Ping -only available in Sabah (?)

Lemon Teh Ping..so much lemon today ^^;;

They have lots of bread, char siew bread, some other bread..
This is Luncheon Meat plus Egg Bread

^ But....the Luncheon meat only appears at the last 3 bites ;_;
The bread is nice tho~

Ngau Chap Mee

It's really rich in yummy Intestines (?)...I have NO idea what is it called but for you all science students, it has lots of villi and microvilli..The beef tendon MELTS in your mouth woo~ (tho i actually prefer it to be a little more chewable)
and too bad there are no beef ball otherwise there will be one big happy beefy family in that bowl

Anddd~ it comes in a kon lou version too..the mee not the beef!

Anddd~ if you are lucky you may find an Ikea item in your bowl of Ngau Chap

LOL don't you they look like long lost brothers?

Syn Ming Hing

Located in Sandakan town is the well known syn ming hing
(it's quite hidden if you ask me, as compared to chung ming hing)

They serve a whole lot more variety of cakes and breads compared to chung ming hing

(I am pretty hungry now, and being overseas and all atm i REALLY WANTED TO JUMP INTO THE PICTURE! :P)

Anyways back to the food;

Muk Shu Kou (Very nice taste and smell, love it)

Egg tarts - Can compete with Chung Ming Hing's egg tart

YUMMM

UFO~~~

After the 'death' of Chung Ming Hing's UFO i searched high and low for the perfect UFO and this is not too bad..(Tho the yellow part is abit little!)

See what i mean by the small amount of the yellowish part?

Right..better stop here and leave before i become homesick
I'll be back for more updates next time~

Lee Kim

Located in Mile 8, exact location is...right after you drive/walk pass Servay Hypermarket

I am not so sure about what they are famous for..anyone care to enlighten me??

Anyways, i deicided to try their Siu Gai Kon Lou Mee (Chicken)

A little different from normal kon lou mee
because they use the sauce for the chicken/duck itself as the sauce for the mee also

This is Siu Ap Kon Lou Mee (Duck) - Not bad

And look what i found there, UFO~~

It is TALL but the yellowish part inside is...rather little

I still miss Chung Ming Hing's old UFO

Egg Tarts - Not too bad also..worth trying

Kedai Kopi Baru Bar Lock Yuen

It's is kinda hidden..at least it's not situated in some popular busy area..
You can find it somewhere along the road to Batu Sapi across our Pantai "Putih"

Walk inside to find the shop's main attraction..

Freshly baked bread..

From Kaya Buns, Red Bean Buns, Peanut Buns to Plain Buns(I think)..

But my personal favourite would be the Peanut Bun

In addition you can always ask them cut and add butter in the middle (and Kaya too but i still prefer it without the Kaya)

Look at how the butter MELTS in the bun.and the bread itself is so soft and fresh
YES I KNOW IT'S FATTENING but why not pamper yourself once in a while??XD

Giant Coffee Bread

One word says it all

GIANT

Only available in the morning/afternoon during weekends - smart marketing plan huh

This is the closest to what you can get from Rotiboy in KL and Tuah Baker in KK

It does smell really nice when it is hot and freshly baked, even the top is crunchy

Eat while hot, when it is cold it's not that nice HEHE

Kopitiam

Located at Mile 4, Kim Fung side not Indah

Kopitiam

Famous for bread - roti kahwin

We had roti kahwin with kaya and a chunk of melting butter (uwaaa fattening but nice!)

Alternatively you can have cheese bread roti kahwin - Exactly the same as the one above but they use bread with cheese on top

Snack them with a cup of Kopi C Ping...wuaaa

(****Next time remember to order it kurang manis/less sugar)

orange's addition
good one em, i must agree this roti kahwin is really nice. i had been eating it since the shop open through out my final few years of high school. and also when i was working part time in that area. the cheese stick, slice open in half, with the addition of thick piece of butter(mention above) and its kaya, sure makes one's mouth watery. i can't help imagining the wonderful feel of sinking my teeth into a roti kahwin now... *craving*~. the shop is situated right at the corner of a block of shops. so at times, u can see cars stopping right in the center of the road and see passengers dashing out of the car to get their buns from the shop. as said, its popular with their roti kahwin only, so there is not much other food for sale.

After hearing everyone's request i am here to bring you...Dragon egg/cheese tarts!!

Courtesy of Dragon Restaurant at Mile 4 Indah - Opposite Quartet

So lucky to have freshly baked hot egg tarts from the oven

Cheese Tart

Pretty tasty but...

rm1.20 each (Zomg, ok i was just being stingy haha)

Egg Tart..and a very hot one too

(my pain receptors suffered for this beautiful pic)

This worth rm1.20 also (Ignore the ugly teeth bitting marks KEKE)

I..think the filling is too soft..it lack abit 'hau gem' but the pastry is crunchy tho haha

Chung Ming Hing

BEST EGG TART IN TOWN (also better than all kk egg tarts i think)...
^That says it all

Located in Sandakan Town opposite the Shell Petrol Station and in the same row as Lumen Bookstore..

I was too late (11am) so there was only 3 egg tarts left and NO NGAU SI DUI(UFO)!

So what do it do, of course i bought all the egg tarts available..i actually wanted 6 of them and 10 Ngau Si Duis uwu..
Also bought a few Tau Sa Peng/Black Bean Paste Biscuit to compensate my Ngau Si Duis

The eggs tart is famous for it's crunchy thin layer of pastry and a soft & smooth not-too-sweet filling

Compared to other eggs tarts i've eaten, the other egg tarts have THICK pastry base and tricked us into believing that the filling is thick!

Tau Sa Peng (I call it Cantonese Dorayaki - Doraemon's favourite haha)

PS; will edit once i get my Ngau Si Duis
