QQ Ice

Unable to tolerate the ultra hot sizzling weather of Sandakan? Quench your thirst easily at QQ Ice! This is my survival kit here because I get so hot and thirsty all the time and just wanted to look for something nice but not too expensive. However nowadays I limit myself with the amount of cups I drink per week because of the fear of my health.....but that's just me! (if you are in Sandakan for just 1 week, WHY NOT SPAM DRINK :p)

Anyways back to the point. QQ Ice is located at one of the corners in the centre of Mile 4 Indah (Head towards inside Indah's roundabout and spin your way~ and there you will see it)

Variety of drinks with pearls
Asides from the original Pearl (Milky) Tea, you can have your pearls with other teas or drinks such as Red Tea, Green Tea, Ice Blended drinks, Juices. Or you can even order any type of drinks with added black jelly, magic jelly, etc.. Play with the combination!

I still like my rm2.50 Pearl Tea best
The pearl is not sweet and chewy enough for me. It's not easy to find a nice big cup of Pearl Tea with only rm2.50 outside of Sandakan.. (i think)

Ps ; I do prefer Pearl Tea here over Cool City :p

Ba Lin

Ba Lin is one of the very very few places in Sandakan where you can drink cocktails or alcoholic drinks in a quiet and peaceful environment (without loud music, people dancing and flirting around, smoke, and no perv people). SOOOooo anyways, Ba Lin is located in town, straight down from the clock tower roundabout and pass the second fountain roundabout in town. It is located on top of NAK Hotel.

You can opt to have your drink on the open air top floor, enjoying the night sea breeze and night sky. If you are as lucky as me, you might even be able to witness beautiful lightning before you actually get too scared of being strike by it that you eventually move down one floor

Open air~
However, from what they told me that time, you need to spend above a certain amount to be able to enjoy those nice couches, but for poor students like me, we only get to sit on tall unstable chairs TT, with an overly romantic dim lighting that i eventually got annoyed with because i couldn't read the menu TT

Downstairs
Better chairs at least, better lighting

Didn't take really good pictures of the place due to poor lighting and lousy camera

Cocktail menu

Mocktail menu for those who are driving :)

Midori Colada
A blend of Midori Melon liquer, white rum, pineapple juice and coconut milk.

Mojito
A slightly sourly sweet drink with a combination of white rum, lime juice, sugar, soda water and mint leaves.

I do prefer the Midori Colada because I am not a fan of sour taste ^^

Planter's Punch
A very refreshing mocktail

Planter's Punch is actually a classic rum drink but the non-alcoholic version of it is common as well. It is made with a mixture of frozen peaches with freshly brewed floral tea

Cool City

Cool City (previously Cool) in Bandar Kim Fung Mile4 front row..impossible to not spot it
I'm not going to post pictures of the drinks (Pearl Tea etc etc), assuming that everyone already knew about it..but anyways..i personally prefer QQIce's pearl tea hehehe

I like the Polo Bun there but unfortunately I don't have a picture of it atm..

Tau Sar Peng (Dorayaki)

I've eaten the real dorayaki from Japan before, and I can say that this is as close as 75% - taste wise, maybe not the bun texture but I'm fine with it hehh

Veda Blu

A relatively new cafe in Sandakan located in Mile7 Bandar Utama/Giant area
Easy to find parking because that area is still new and empty

Veda Blu (I assume it's an Italian branch) serves ice cream made with Italian recipe but before you jump in excitement the ice cream is not actually made and delivered from Italy, it is made in KK, Sabah

I was surprised to see it EMPTY that day i went there, maybe because it was a weekday

But empty is good, i can have the whole 1st floor all to myself

I like the design, the colours are soft to my eyes and i can also enjoy the view outside (if you enjoy seeing jalan raya and giant hypermarket)

Mango yoghurt smoothies - very mango, yoghurt?...not really

Ice cream cake (I forgot the name TT) - pretty normal

Ps - If you order ice cream or ice cream cake i suggest that you don't sit near the window, it melts even before you get to finish it

I didn't have enough $$ or space for ice cream so I'll try and re-edit my post next time!
So for now, I have no comment on it because the main dessert there is the ice cream and I haven't tried it once but for now my only comment is that the cake is expensive and the ice cream is expensive TT, whether it is worth the $$ or not I will decide on it later

Jesselton Coffee

Another one of the 'younger' cafes in Mile 4 Indah

The interior ...is kinda nice especially the sofas

With many choices of cakes

The hot beverages (tea) are usual...

Ice blended drinks

(I see some discrimination towards ice blended here..look at the difference in the cup design!)

I-forgotten-what-is-this drink

Sigh~ They don't even serve my favorite Vanilla Ice Blended Drinks
(At least not when i was there)

O CAKES

Chocolate Banana Cake - I see similarities with the Choco Banana Cake in Equator..
Same supplier i guess?

Cheesy Cheese Cake that i don't fancy because it's sweet and a little sour on top
but my other friend likes it a lot
So up to who you want to believe (Trust me people!not her!)

Moist Chocolate Cake...Oklarr~Didn't really leave me any deep impression

After all these cafe hopping i think at the end of the day i will still go back to the old equator :P
Equator does have more choices of drinks!

Chocolate Rain

Located in Indah Mile 4...at the newer area..i guess i dont need to explain in detail where it is since it is quite popular..

If you are looking for something to eat you can have this gigantic bread topped with ice cream

Not too bad, kinda cute..the serving choppingboard-plate

The atmosphere there is okay-typical student or adult hang out place

This is...Champange Grape - Champhange grape juice ice blended with layers of milk pudding

(It's one huge cup)

Crazy Mango - Ice blended mango juice layered with green apple puree

Passion Spring - Ice blended with strawberry pudding layers

*All the drinks above are approximately rm7

But their specialty would be the chocolate fondue
(a selection of fruits dipped in hot melted chocolate sauce)
Whoops i didnt manage to eat that!

The food there are quite attractive because of the colours and the fancy utensils but quite some people say that the fruit taste is a lacking..in other words their drinks only 'says' sweet..

It's not too bad to come here once in a while tho :p
Not alot of cafes serve these kind of drinks in Sandakan

Little Nanyang

I had ALWAYS wanted to try this shop..it was there since years ago but i haven't actually got the correct time and correct mood to step into this restaurant..

Btw it's located in Indah, same row as 7Heaven (i have yet to write a review on 7Heaven but i haven't the the chance to!!)

Anyways back to Little Nanyang

This..is..Ka Hiong Chicken Rice (Not too sure about the name, i didn't order this)

Nasi Lemak - rm6.90 (wuuu, my wallet is crying)

I didnt like the cucumber and the jeruk, other than that it was delicious

Teh C Ping, which i didn't order because it was quite expensive and i don't think it will be any better than the rm1.40 Teh C Ping that i can easily get from Pasar Kim Fung (refer to previous posts)

(I did order a drink - mineral water but they forgot about it T_T)

I don't think i will be coming back to this shop anytime soon because it is a little expensive and the service there is not quite up to par..(eventhough the nasi lemak rice is kinda aromatic hehe)

Maybe next time..

Pasar Kim Fung

Mile 4 market is a MUST-GO place for cheap and good food. There are alot of different things here. Some stall offering the same thing but need to know which stall is the best.

I like sotong + kangkung
Kinda is a must order. Where is the exact stall?
I don't know how to direct @@
But do try this out.

Another MUST-ORDER
Wo tet/dumpling.
Refer to previous post for locations.

3 items above is a must order. Totally recommended

Not forgetting, the fried radish cake.
This time without taugeh cause EMQ don't like 'em.

Please look for this glass to locate the stall. In my opinion, it's the BEST Teh C Ping I ever had.
The tea taste is so rich. Even the ice already finish melting, the tea is still GREAT.
Unlike most Teh C Ping, when the ice melted, it'll be very tasteless.
This is milky and yet it didn't effect the tea taste.
TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!

Gotta imagine how nice this thing is? 3 person, from 3 glass to 5 glass.
It's VERY nice. Especially during these days crazy weathers.

After all that and you get a bloated tummy.
*yum*yum*

Kedai Kopi Shin Cheong Loong

Located in the middle of town (well almost) at the row of shops beside Shell..

Many people come here to eat their ais thingy (i myself am not a big fan of it)

Ais Batu Campur (ABC) - A combination of ice with fruits (no avocados today) and nuts

Or Ais Kacang - Only ice and kacang merah/red bean

And for those who doesnt fancy those above like me you can order any juices

^Watermelon Juice

(But i do hear complains about how expensive those ABCs are if compared to KL haha)

But i think the thing that attracts MORE people is their SATAY!!!

You can have chicken, beef or Ngau Lam/Beef Stomach ALL of which you should try

(Eventhough it's not healthy and carcinogenic because of the charcoal BUT WHAT DELICIOUS FOOD IS ACTUALLY HEALHTY?!)

And what's best besides the satay is the peanutty sauce

This is how some people eat and enjoy the sauce even without the satay

Many Semenanjung tourists love Sandakan satay so this is also highly recommended!
